(Commissioned work, series, 27 pictures, 2020/21)

For the 2020 FGZ Annual Report, I created a portrait series focusing on teenagers and young adults who are coming of age at the foothills of Zurich’s Uetliberg. The images capture the tension between the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood, depicting the farewell to innocence, hopes, and fears. This transition can be a challenge, and the uncertainty was amplified by the pandemic. The question of whether one’s aspirations and desires will be realized remains unanswered. The theme for the photographs was established prior to the outbreak of the pandemic, and it is uncertain if the images would have been different had the pandemic not occurred. Nonetheless, those captured in the photographs will likely always associate their picture with their youth and the impact of the pandemic.
